Tatras Hotels and Accommodation

The number one location in the Polish Tatras is Zakopane. Often referred to as the winter capital of Poland, it is the gateway to the Tatras and most tourists stay here when visiting the national park or on a skiing holiday. Although Zakopane has a large variety of hotels, pensions and private rooms, do book in advance as in the high season there is always a shortage of rooms. In fact the best hotels get booked almost a year in advance!

If your intention is to be close to nature and spend most of your time in the mountains then you could stay at one of the eight mountain refuges called schronisko in Polish. Be warned though that the conditions are very basic - read that as only cold running water!
