Things To Do in the Tatras

A Mecca for winter sports enthusiasts, skiing is one of the most enjoyable activities to pursue when in the Tatras. The winter season generally lasts from December to March and skiers will find slopes of varying difficulties. The most popular slopes are Nosal slope, the Gubalowka Hill and the Kasprowy Wierch Peak.

Tatras offer endless possibilities to not only winter-sports buffs but also to those who enjoy walking, hiking and cycling. It is important however to have a good guide book and map in addition to comfortable footwear and clothing. Take in the scenic surroundings of the Tatra National Park, which has many tourist friendly color coded paths. You can also hire a qualified highlander guide who can take you around the area.

If you're fond of mountain biking or cycling you'll find plenty to do here. There are five designated cycle routes within the national park. You can hire a bike from Zakopane.

The more adventurous can try jumping off a cliff - on a paraglide. Paragliding, which is becoming extremely popular these days, is however, confined to the Nosal slope, the Gubalowka Hill and Walowa Gora.
