Jewish Center in Oswiecim

A strong Jewish community inhabited Oswiecim before the Holocaust. There were 12 synagogues here. After the construction of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the Jews of Oswiecim were herded in the square facing the Lomdei Mishnayot Synagogue and sent to die.

Located 3 kilometers from the Auschwitz Museum, the restored synagogue is maintained. One can see a film with testimonies of Holocaust survivors. A permanent exhibition on Jewish life in Oswiecim before World War II is also featured.
