Protecting Bialowieza National Park

The Bialowieza National Park owes its existence to the efforts of nature conservationists, scientists and of course, the nature lovers. Apart from the area earmarked as Special Protection Area, there is also active and landscape protection of this ancient piece of wooded area.

Stringent protection measures have ensured that the natives of the forests, the European bisons or the wisent, now number about 300.

In order to achieve the highest standard in environmental protection, the national park works in close association with other forest farmsteads. Sustainable Development of the local resources is the motto of the Forest Promotion Complex and the local government.

The Bialowieza National Park has risen from the ashes to secure a place in the tourist handbook and it is no wonder that authorities are leaving no stone unturned to nurture this fragile bit of landscape.
