Main Attractions in Swinoujscie

Undoubtedly the biggest draw in Swinoujscie is the biggest and the widest beach in Poland on Uznam and Wolin islands. If you dream of having summer vacation on a hot sunkissed beach, with miles and miles of blue water, as far as the eye can see, ahead of you, then Swinoujscie is the place to go to. Interestingly, the beach is also quite secure for children as it gently undulates into the sea.

If you're interested in maritime museums, then pay a visit to the Museum of Sea Fishing in the old town hall. Here you will also get a lesson in the town's history as well view n exhibition on the development of the sea fishing trade over the centuries in the area. Also on display are navigational devices and variety of sea fauna. Also worth seeing is what is often referred to as the landmark of Swinoujscie - a beacon in the shape of a windmill called Mlyny.

Other attractions in the town include an 18th century, old gothic church, the King Christ Church, which has a replica of a ship suspended under the ceiling; the neo-gothic Church of the Holy Virgin, or Stella Maris, wihc has exquisite stained glass windows; Angel Fort, an old 19the century fort on the banks of the Swina River, built in the harridan Mausoleum style; Western Fort, which was under Russian occupation from the end of the war till as recently as 1962.

Escape the hullabaloo of the resort with a trip to Wolin Island, which lies between Warszow district and Miedzyzdroje. The island houses the landmark that the area is best known for - the historic 68 meters tall lighthouse, which is the tallest on the Baltic coast. Since its renovation in 2000, the lighthouse is open to the public and you can get an excellent view of the town and its surroundings from the top of the tower.

If you've had enough of lazing on the beaches and fancy some exercise, then take a leisurely walk in the magnificent Spa Park. 170 years old, the park boasts an abundance of Mediterranean vegetation. If bird watching is more your thing, then a visit to the island of Karsiborska Kepa, an internationally renowned bird sanctuary is a must. You will be absolutely delighted by the huge diversity of bird species nesting here.
