Around Sandomierz

The Pepper Mountains (Góry Pieprzowe) formed of quartzite and Cambrian slate is a steep 60 m high ridge over the Vistula valley. It offers a panoramic view of the town along with the usual attractions of a nature reserve.

Baranów Sandomierski is a small town, just around the corner. This town hosts a magnificent Santi Gucci and Giovani Battista Falconi Castle. It is fondly called the 'Little Wawel', due to its striking similarity with its Cracow counterpart.

Kazimierz, Kurozweki, Baranów are places worth seeing, all within a 65 km radius from Sandomierz. Kazimierz is approachable through boat but the other two are just right for a bike hike. Kurozweki has a bison breeding center and an Arabian horse stud farm. Night stay is facilitated with the presence of a heritage hotel. Baranów has a renowned castle that is also the hotel where you stay. Post dinner amusements include an eloquent talk on the Polish aristocracy. Kazimierz offers a pleasant picnic zone in the idyllic Polish country setting with a fun filled boat ride thrown in.

Tarnów, a little further off, is another interesting city. On the way to Tarnów, in Bochnia, lies the oldest salt mine in Poland. The 2.5 km trail is 290 m underground and is open to tourists. The Wyzyn chamber, the mine's largest cavern is used both as a recreation and a health treatment spot.
