Maria Sklodowska-Curie (1867-1934)

Legendary physicist and chemist who discovered polonium and radium. She was among the first to study radioactivity, before the harmful effects were known. The first female professor at Sorbonne, she was awarded the Nobel Prize, twice, in 1903 and in 1911. She died because of the severe effects of radioactive material she worked on.
